September 18, 2010 at 2:00pm Port Richmond Branch Library 75 Bennett Street, Staten Island, NY 10302
Celebrated cellist and composer Stephanie Winters lends her voice and her virtuosic cello skills to a performance focused on beauty, simplicity, and interconnectivity through an array of musical styles. An artist who ceaselessly pushes the limits of cello performance, she weaves easily between pop, classical, international, and original compositions. Especially for the Meet the Artist Library Series, Winters has developed some of her most exciting new work into a mesmerizing theatrical concert which blends instrumental music, songs and spoken text underscored with solo cello. Her original writing and arranging is woven with source material from a from around the world to tell a story of interconnection between word and melody, language and emotion, and people to people. With only her cello and voice, Winters harnesses a power that touches the heart, intrigues the mind and bridges the gap between cultures. The performance also features work from her acclaimed album Through the Storm (recently re-released in late 2009).
