I Love Vinyl featuring the World’s Famous Supreme Dream Team DJs: Amir, Ge-Ology, Jon Oliver, OP!, Scribe, and The Twilite Tone
Friday, October 29, 2010 at 9:00 pm David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center LCDJ
Founded by NYC-based DJ and producer Scribe in the summer of 2009 with a Dream Team of resident romantics, I Love Vinyl, a monthly all-vinyl oasis on the fourth Saturdays at the Gallery Bar at Le Poisson Rouge, now comes to Lincoln Center. The sounds are mind-wide, foot-friendly, and snap-crackle-popping. Everything is fair game, but you will probably hear some soul, disco, Dilla, boogie, hustle, hip-hop, old-school house, no wave, new jack swing, salsa, funk, electro, and Afrobeat. No pretension, no dress code, no commercial radio nonsense, and no laptops allowed. In a digital and disposable world, I Love Vinyl is nothing less than a call for revolution (33⅓ per minute, to be exact).
The night is accompanied by the world premiere of "Return To Center", an original video by Danish artist Helene Nymann, with support from Danish VJ artist Kristian Kragelund and Danish painter Tobias Ginsborg, created especially for this event. The work illustrates the many emotional delusions and dogmas a woman of the 21st Century has to overcome in the pursuit of peace within. Nymann's video expresses the psychological mindset of the postmodern woman using images of the architectural landscape of the city. These vivid depictions seduce the spectator, inviting a transcendental experience in which each viewer can enter the psychedelic rooms of their own subconscious.
Design duo dilys+asante are excited to introduce AURICLE, an interactive logo-booth crafted especially for I Love Vinyl. Mixing familiar funfair delight with social media, space-age textiles and twinkling electronics, AURICLE invites I Love Vinyl fans to declare their devotion. Throughout the night, partygoers can email photos of their interactions with AURICLE to iheartbeats@ilovevinyl.org for instant viewing on the I Love Vinyl family album.
