Series Description:
In 1959, President Dwight D. Eisenhower participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Lincoln Center. During the 2009–2010 season, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is joining other Lincoln Center resident companies in presenting special programs celebrating the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking. A special series of free public programs produced by the Library will focus on a few of the unusual treasures that reside in the Library's collections. The Performing Arts Library will also present an exhibition, "Lincoln Center: Celebrating 50 Years," which will be on view in the Library's Oenslager Gallery from October 15, 2009 through January 6, 2010.
