ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

An important element in Lincoln Center’s redevelopment is the greening of the campus, including the vertical garden walls in the Rubenstein Atrium, the Barclays Capital and Benenson Groves, the additional greenery flanking the Grand Stairs on Columbus Avenue, the Illumination Lawn, and the rooftop green of Lincoln Center Theater. The Parks Department removed unsafe dead and dying trees in Damrosch Park and subsequently, the planters in which they are housed are in the process of being repaired and restored. A limited number of trees on the north side of Damrosch have been removed, replaced, or relocated; however, the result is a net addition of approximately 55 trees throughout Lincoln Center’s 16 acres. There will be tests conducted in Damrosch to determine how best to repair and restore any damage caused by leaks over the years. Given all of these factors and the many public uses of Damrosch Park, Lincoln Center and the Parks Department intend to consult widely with community groups about the future physical condition of Damrosch Park.
