Animated Russian art-rockers Auktyon has engaged in a clamorous, theatrical hybrid for nearly three decades, and found a soulmate in keyboardist John Medeski. The Wall-toppling Velvet Revolution was musically stoked by the Plastic People of the Universe, a group of Czech upstarts that worshipped at the proto-punk altar of the Velvet Underground, adding flights of poetry and free jazz.
