Trumpet player, producer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and singer-songwriter Michael Leonhart blends the styles of Bollywood funk scores, Afrobeat, 1960s psychedelic rock, and the fantastical storytelling of artists like the Beatles, Donovan and the Byrds. Leonhart takes the stage with the Avramina 7, which comprises musicians who have built the New York and Brooklyn funk and soul scene. The funky collective features members of the Dap-Kings, Plastic Ono Band, the Phenomenal Handclap Band, Budos Band, Menahan Street Band, El Michels Affair, and Antibalas, among others—in short, pretty much the go-to set of soul/funk musicians in New York City today.
