Kubiak-Pakhomov DuoThu, Nov 19, 2009 4:00 PM Teresa Kubiak, cello Rachmaninoff: Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19 Pianist and recent BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) Award winner, pianist Maxim Pakhomov performs with BRIO-winning cellist Teresa Kubiak. Pakhomov completed his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory and has toured through Russia, England, Scotland, Austria, Estonia, and the U.S. He is a founding member of The Bronx Chamber Players, in addition to being the principal pianist of the Bronx Opera Company. Kubiak has performed with major ensembles at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and throughout the metropolitan area, including appearances with the New York City Ballet Orchestra, Orchestra of the Bronx (principal cellist), Bronx Opera Orchestra, and more. Presented in collaboration with Bronx Council on the Arts. *Since its inception in 1989, BRIO awardees are selected based solely on the artistic excellence of the work submitted and judged anonymously by a panel of professional artists (different panelists each year) from outside the Bronx and working in each respective field. The Bronx has the unique distinction of being the only borough in New York City to have its own ongoing fellowship awards for artists. |
