Dirty Projectors

“Indie-rock’s workaholic mad genius, churning out album after high-concept album with an uncommon drive.”—The New York Times on David Longstreth

The Allen Room

Experimental rock band Dirty Projectors weaves a variety of influences into its avant-garde style. Playing with vocal arrangements, world music, electronics, and new sonic landscapes, this group's sound is one of the most unique to emerge in recent years. The release of its album Bitte Orca has brought the band heavy praise and identified founder David Longstreth as one of America's most creative new voices.

In a world premiere, Dirty Projectors performs its entire groundbreaking 2005 album, The Getty Address, with New York-based contemporary music ensemble Alarm Will Sound, conducted by Artistic Director Alan Pierson in an arrangement by Matt Marks. The show concludes with material from Bitte Orca.

This performance is approximately 80 minutes, with no intermission.

The New York Times, February 21, 2010
"Mr. Longstreth crooned extended, leaping lines, all cantilevered amid the orchestra's fits and starts of percussion, cackling Stravinskyan woodwind motifs and hovering tone clusters."

The Village Voice, Friday, February 19, 2010
"Longstreth's music bobs and weaves in a paradoxically static procession of disparate styles that somehow hang together as a beautiful play of surfaces."
